The back of this low-rent rental house in this brand new subdivision in north Texas suburb faces due west without any trees or shade structure. So I got this 10' umbrella to give some shade and privacy from the neighbors. Mission accomplished. The patio is so small I had to build a 4' x 4' pad for the base to sit on. Not too difficult conceptually but a heck of a lot of labor with digging out the grass and bringing in bags of paver base, sand, 12" x 12" pavers, etc. Hope the landlord doesn't mind me improving his property! :) Anyhoo, the umbrella itself was the easy part, by far. The assembly instructions are actually pretty good, everything seemed to fit, no problems with "untangling" the arms, snapping the lift rope or anything like that, it just popped right up into place. It's super easy to lift or lower, a taller child could do it. It sways a little in the wind, but hey, it's basically a huge-a__ sail. The pins that **sorta** hold the four separate base units together could be better designed like other reviews have noted. I filled two of these base units with playground sand (yes, the sand does have to be completely dry first, not a hard thing to make happen with this Texas sun), then water. A 40-lb bag was used for each unit, and they could have held even more. They are indeed quite heavy. Due to not wanting to make yet another trip to big box store, I just filled the other two units with water only and decided to add place big rocks on the top of these units for even more weight. I don't believe this umbrella's going anywhere, especially with the vented design.Brought this earlier in the summer and have been more than satisfied with it - was easy to assemble and appears to be well built. Read the add, you need to support this umbrella, it is heavy and presents quite a sail area even though it is 'vented'. I made a 30" square concrete footing 6" thick with a 10" sono-tube riser with stainless steel threaded rods, weighs in at about 400#. Comes through the deck and is very sturdy. Wind has never presented any problems and I live on a lake. Well done Jearey.This 10ft offset cantilever umbrella was perfect for providing shade for a patio set accommodating 4 to 6 people. Very pleased with the quality and price was very reasonable. Assembly took less than 30 mins. The umbrella is very sturdy in light breeze with only water filled 4pc base purchased separately.Its great on holding light breeze. Covers one 3 seater, one central table and one 2 seater outdoor sofa. This has not fainted in color so far.Providing Great shade spot pool side, high quality, highly recommended!Good umbrella. Swivel feature makes umbrella easy to maneuver for shadeRather than a long review on this, I'll just do negative or positive points1- Very hard to assemble - the instructions were incomplete and video leaves off several important steps2- Not steady at all - even with 150 pounds of weight on the base it still wobbles and tips...and has tipped over twice3- It was missing parts or holes or they were in the wrong place4- It took two strong adults over 2 hours to get together...and still had the above problems.5- tried to return it but it was too big for any box we could find online and the box it came in was too damaged to reuse.The good news is it looks nice and we can still use it but marganally. We can't turn it on the stand or get it to close completely. Pretty much a waste of money3 of the 4 pre-drilled holes in the foot pedal aren’t properly drilled. As a result, you cannot attach the foot pedal to the crossbars at the base of the umbrella bc the holes don’t line up properly. This umbrella was already returned by someone else bc when I opened the box, a few parts were already assembled. Really disappointing.I wanted to believe this umbrella would do the job of a 3000$ similar product but I was wrong. The system is so flimsy that it unlocks with the slightest breeze and swings around dangerously. After it hit one of my guests in the face, we had to tie it down. I regret buying this product. I should’ve purchased a basic center umbrella for half the price and not trouble. Also, the base (extra) is the hugest thing… actually decided to bolt it down in the patio to avoid having this large black plastic base in sight. (Not that bolting it down has nothing prevents it from falling over, but it will still spin around dangerously). Guaranteed to ruin your sunny day. Invest in a wind-safe umbrella or buy hats…We only opened the boxes, put the umbrella's up to ensure they went up and did not have any holes. We have now put them away for the winter. First glance they look very good, seem sturdy and will be nice to use next year. Hope it is a short winter ;)Arrived damaged and Amazon wants me to pay the shipping to return.
