These shade sails are very high quality. We ordered a 24’ x 24’ x 24’ triangular shade sail, and then realized we wanted more shade, so we ordered a 20’ x 24’ sail as well. The steel cables are sewn into the entire perimeter of each sail, which is a must. If you get a shade sail with rope in the perimeter, it will not last, with the tension you must get on all corners. The price was great too! Prices vary wildly, but certain sizes are 60-75% less. Not sure why, but ours were $147 and $189, where other similar sizes ran $500-$600! These have a 5 or 7 year warranty, where most warranties are 2 or 3 years. They look great, and keep our backyard so much cooler in the hot Florida summers. It is important to assemble these correctly. We used 4x4 posts, 16’ long, and buried them 4’ into the ground with cement. I purchased 4x4 vinyl post covers to give them a nice look. When we needed to secure two corners to our house, we reinforced those areas to make sure the heavy duty eye bolts would not come out in strong winds and damage the house. And most importantly, we used pulleys on the corners attached to the posts, which allowed us to pull each corner tight enough to minimize them flapping in stiff breezes. Attached pictures show the shade sails and the pulleys for the corners. This project took a lot of time, but doing it right will make them last . We will take them down when hurricanes are forecast, but they should hold up in winds of 35-40 mph. I will update this review after this coming hurricane season.Update: We bought another shade sail, 24’x 24’, for a total of 3. I have learned a lot since we purchased the first one almost 2 years ago. Here in South Florida, the winds can get pretty bad, obviously, with hurricanes and all. I have replaced all of the 4x4 wooden posts with steel poles that are buried 4’ into the ground with cement. The 4x4’s snapped like twigs when a wind gust of 40 -50 mph hit our backyard. The steel poles work great. The next learning experience was when the ropes that I had replaced the original ropes with broke in another high wind situation. So as the pictures show, all of the ropes have been replaced with steel cable, about 3/8” in diameter. My point is that the poles now are strong enough, and the wires are now solid. The shade sails have held up perfectly through all of the wind storms. Just be sure to order the sails that have a 7 year warranty, as the material is heavier, and most importantly, the edges of the entire shade sails are steel cables. So ditch the ropes that come with any pulleys you buy for the corners and replace them with cable, and use steel poles instead of wooden ones, and these should last a long time. And take them down when winds of over 40-50 mph are predicted. They are easy to take down when you have pulleys at all corners.
